Proms in the Park and Box Club Tour

Had a busy few weeks recently. Box Club hit the road for our first ever tour. I have to say I’ve not had this much fun in a long time. What a great bunch of people to go on the road with. The tour went really well. We were a bit nervous after the first gig in Oban, as there was about the same number of people in the audience as there were in the band. Not to worry, the word spread fast in the highlands :-) and the rest of the gigs were really well attended.

We had 2 days off in the middle of the tour and I was asked to take part in the BBC Proms in the Park in Glasgow Green with Donald Shaw, Karen Matheson, Julie Fowlis, Eamon Doorley, Duncan Chisholm, Anna Massie and Shona Mooney. The contrast to the gig in Oban a few days earlier couldn’t have been greater. There was supposedly 20,000 people there.

Tønder Festival

Had a great time in Tønder with the Shona Mooney band. This was my first time at the festival and I had a blast. The gigs went well and we got great feedback (the nice kind) afterwards. I had the pleasure of playing a few sets with Croft No.5 which was cool. This was one of their last ever gigs, which made it something special. The guys were really going for it. Also got to catch up with the Beoga gang, who were all in fine form and played a mighty set in the museum.

The Sunday night American concert was first class. Especially Crooked Still and Steve Earle & The Blugrass Dukes (Tim O’Brien, Darrell Scott, Casey Driessen and Dennis Crouch).
